Ontario’s regulated iGaming market is thriving! Last week, iGaming Ontario, the province’s online gaming body, released its Q3 market performance report. The results show that both players and operators are interested and excited about the growth of the industry.
The report, covering the period from October 1st to December 31st, 2022, showcases noticeable growth in various areas of the market. In the Q3 market report, areas such as total gaming revenue to the number of operators live in the province have increased significantly when compared to Q2 and Q1. Here are the highlights provided by iGaming Ontario:
Two of the most important areas of growth in Q3 were the total wagers and the number of active player accounts. The total wagers reached $11.53 billion, a 91% increase from Q2, and more than 280,000 new active player accounts were recorded this quarter, representing a 45% increase from Q2. This demonstrates that the player base in the province is growing, and they are actively participating in online gaming, contributing to the total gaming revenue of $457 million. International operators, who were already captivated by the growth of Ontario’s iGaming market in Q1 and Q2, also contributed to the growth of the province’s gaming market. In Q3, 12 new operators and 26 new gaming websites were launched in the province.
Ontario’s iGaming market growth has shown immense development over the last three quarters. And with one of the most important sporting events of the year coming up this month, the Super Bowl, we expect that the Q4 market numbers will easily surpass the results from all the previous quarters.
